When a carefree woman learns that her closeted friend is gay, the two form an inseparable bond and find comfort in each other's company.

Pimsai went to San Francisco to find her boyfriend. She doesn't know that he went to go be a boy-toy for an old widow. He sold his apartment to John. Pimsai, thinking her boyfriend is still living there, goes to the apartment and sleeps in John's bed. Since she has no place to go or any contact with her boyfriend, John lets Pimsai stay and they become roomates. He takes her to work at a friend's restaurant. A man's daughter is killed by thieves during a bank robbery. Due to the incompetence of the corrupt authorities, he decides to take to law into his own hands and track down the killers.

Bai Rong's father-in-law, a retired soldier, is facing his own difficulties as well - needing a full-time caregiver after the death of his wife.

Vietnam veteran Leon Barlow is struggling as a writer, and his personal life isn't much better. His unsympathetic ex-wife Marilyn doesn't approve of his visits with his two children, and he has problems with alcohol. Yet even when Leon manages to catch up on alimony and child support payments, things in his life seem to decline further, until a sudden tragedy catches him off guard.
